{Slow Cooker} Sweet & Savory Meatballs

slow-cooker-mealThis meatball recipe was not originally a slow cooker recipe. Even though I have always loved the flavor and smell (oh my word, the smell!) of them cooking in the oven, there was room for improvement. Cooking them in the oven resulted in too much of the sauce drying by the time they were done so I recently decided to try them in the slow cooker and they turned out amazingly tender and none of sauce was lost!

There’s nothing fancy about the meatballs, but the sauce makes them so yummy. They’re perfect over pasta or served with cheese on sub bread as a hot sandwich. If you like savory sweet meatballs, definitely give these a try!


1lb ground turkey

3 slices of bread, torn into pieces

1/2 cup diced onion

1 egg

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/3 cup milk

1 jar chili sauce

1/4 cup grape jam or jelly



Mix everything but the chili sauce and jam together into meatballs. Spray the slow cooker with non-stick spray. Place meatballs in the bottom of the cooker. In a small bowl, blend the chili sauce and jam together; pour sauce over the meatballs. Cook on low for 6-8 hours OR on high for 4 hours. That’s it!
