Homemade Shopping Bag Holder

bag-in-kitchen-twoWhile it’s true that I’ve been switching over to cloth/canvas bags for shopping, there are still times when plastic bags are useful. I like to keep ten to fifteen on hand at home so a holder is a convenient and cute way to store them. ^_^

This project was super easy and quick. Had I not had multiple (!) interruptions, it would have taken me under thirty minutes to make. My finished bag holder will hold at least fifteen bags; in the photos here, there are ten bags inside.

I used a fat quarter and a little bit of elastic for this project. I didn’t have matching thread so I used white, but I think it would look better if the thread were invisible. That being said, I don’t think it would be worth the money to buy new thread for just one small sewing project. I rarely use my iron but in this case I felt it was worth it. ;)

I’m enjoying having a cute place to store my bags. ^_^

    1. Thanks! Ooh, with a little one coming, you’ll have lots of cute possibilities! I was just on YouTube this morning looking at pillowcase dresses for when my youngest is walking. So easy and cute!
