The Blogger Tag

One of my favorite bloggers tagged me in a fun, get-to-know-you tag the other day. ^_^ If you’ve yet to find Elizabeth’s blog, The Comfortable Coop, you need to head on over there pronto! She is super funny and really sweet, not to mention she is amazing cook (and she shares recipes frequently!) Yeah, her blog’s great. :)

So, here are my q&a’s:

Question 1: How tall are you?

Interestingly, my tagger and I share the same stature. Standing tall, I’m at 5’4″. When holding a baby on my hip, I lose a good inch and a half! Two of my children have already passed me; Maggie (16) is about two inches taller than I am and Joshua (13) is already an inch taller. My grandmother told me once, that when my dad passed her in height, and he got smart with her, she made up for it by literally standing on a chair to compensate! lol I haven’t had to do that yet, but it’s in my parenting arsenal. ;)

Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent?

Hmm, I’m not sure what’s hidden and what’s not, or what’s really considered a talent. :P I love American Sign Language and hope to one day teach a class for babies and toddlers to help with early communication. I love organizing and cleaning; it would be a treat to become a housecleaner some day. Not even kidding.

Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

When friends I’m following go weeks or months without posting. I like frequent posts, otherwise I can’t really get to know the person. Of course, stuff comes up, but when it happens routinely, it can be a bit frustrating to follow them.

Question 4: What’s your biggest non-related blog pet peeve?

Traffic. Wait, is that a pet peeve? I don’t know, I just know I get anxious when the cars aren’t moving. And in Atlanta traffic, forget about it. I have learned to either take the back roads or stay home. Usually, I choose the latter!

Question 5: What’s your favorite song?

What a hard question! I was born in 1980 and grew up in Michigan listening to Oldies 104.3 on the radio, instilling a deep love for music of the 50’s and 60’s in me. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, Elvis, Marvin Gaye, The Monkees, Petula Clark, The Supremes, Mamas and the Papas, The Four Tops. *sigh* Love ’em!  As I got older, I listened to more current music, but still held onto the music I grew up with. As an adult, I’ve enjoyed a mix of both old and new. I love some Christian artists and songs, like “Love You with the Truth” by Casting Crowns, and “Imagine This” by Beckah Shae. And I love poetic music by John Mayer and John Denver! But I STILL love Motown and oldies. So, yeah, I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love music (a lot!) but I don’t have a favorite song. ha

Question 6: What’s your favorite social media website?

Well, I’ve done all of them, but got rid of most of them quite a while ago because they really weren’t bringing me joy. I re-signed up for a Twitter account when I started this blog because I can do the automatic tweeting of new posts without having to actually go to Twitter. I am LOVING Pinterest, though! I use it for recipes, crafts, and sewing projects. It’s super inspiring! I don’t really see it as social media, however, because I am not sponsoring myself on it.

Question 7: What’s your favorite way to spend your time when you’re alone?

Writing, reading, researching, sewing, crocheting or cooking. Give me any one of these, any time!

Question 8: What’s your favorite junk food?

Pecan pie. No question.

Question 9: Do you have a pet or pet(s)? If so, what kind and what are their names?

Nope, too many allergies and sensitivities in my family. :/

Question 10: What are your number one favorite non-fiction and fiction books?

I can’t choose just one! Dinner with a Perfect Stranger is an amazing book; honestly, it seems much more like non-fiction when you read it because it’s all about Jesus’ love for us and understanding Him better. Lynn Austin’s historical fiction books are fantastic. I especially enjoyed one from her Civil War series called Fire by Night. I’ve really liked some Anita Shreve books over the years, with Sea Glass being my favorite. Currently, I’m reading books by Katherine Center; The Bright Side of Disaster was great! John Steinbeck remains to be my favorite author, though. Of Mice and Men as well as The Winter of our Discontent were soooo good.

Question 11: What’s your favorite beauty product or tool?

Mascara, I guess. My eyelashes need it!

Question 12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

Hmm, I guess when I was sick last week and my brain wasn’t cooperating so I said to the lady at Hobby Lobby that I needed a ½ yard of the penguin fabric even though the fabric was covered with flamingos! We both had a good laugh when she said, a few minutes later, the same thing.

Question 13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life what would it be?

Probably lemonade, but I really don’t mind water. I don’t order drinks when we go out and I rarely buy myself soda or juice for at home.

Question 14: What’s your favorite movie?

This is the worst question, ugh! I worked at Blockbuster Video for a number of years so I’ve probably seen more movies than most. However, I rarely watch movies now. I guess if I had to choose a few of my favorites, I’d say Amadeus, Gone with the Wind, and Titanic.

Question 15: What was your favorite lesson at school?

I loved my Sociology class in high school!

Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I would stay in the United States! I am proud to be an American and I love our country!! I would like to travel more, though, as the kids get older. :)

Question 17: PC or Mac?

Why is this a question? I so don’t care. lol

Question 18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?

He bought me a box of Italian cookies yesterday!

Question 19: Favorite celebrity?

Well, I’d have to say George Clooney because I’ve had a crush on him for years! But Kate Winslet is my favorite actor.

Question 20: What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?

Want to be? I am enjoying friendships! ^_^

Question 21: Who is your biggest inspiration?

My daughter, Maggie! The Lord is working in her life in amazing ways. When I see her sitting on her bed with her Bible open at random times, or with headphones on listening to praise and worship songs, I am truly inspired. She writes about what He’s doing, too! She has a brand new blog, called Dreaming of Guatemala, where she shares her heart, if you want to check it out. ^_^

Question 22: What is your favorite blog to read?

See above. ♥

Question 23: What is your favorite high street shop?

Hmm, I don’t have one, I don’t think. I’m not a big shopper.

Question 24: Are you in education or do you work?

Yes. LOL

I have four children and we homeschool so the answer to both is YES. ;)

Question 25: One thing you are proud of?

See my answers to #21 and #22!

  1. Okay…this is scary. I used to sign to the boys when they were little. I have a HUGE ASL dictionary sitting on the bookshelf behind me. Motown!? One of my favorite soundtracks is “The Big Chill” because it’s Motown! Amadeus is great, Gone with the Wind is amazing, and Titanic….ahh…if only Jack lived and everything would have been perfect! I think I may BE you but with fewer skills!
