Homemaking, Weekly Meal Plan

Weekly Meal Plan {March 1-7}

Doing a meal plan every week has helped me in so many ways! :) It makes shopping easier because it basically makes my grocery list for me. It takes the thinking out of mealtime during the week; I think about and plan all the meals at one time which simply leaves me responsible to follow through (much like lesson planning and homeschooling). It has really motivated me to continue trying new recipes, which I love! And finally, it has boosted my confidence because I’m finally and genuinely organized in the kitchen! The crazy part is, this has been easy. It started with setting the goal to make new recipes and has completely changed how I view food, cooking, and mealtime. If you’re not yet meal planning, I would encourage you to give it a try!

If you would like to read what we’ve thought of the new dinners I’ve made in 2017, click here. If you want to see where most of the recipes are coming from, you can follow my dinner recipes board on Pinterest.

Here’s this week’s meal plan:

As a reminder, my goals are to 1) try lots of new recipes 2) use as many on-hand ingredients as I can 3) make delicious dinners for my family. ^_^

    1. It should be good if her other recipes are any indication! The blog is carlsbadcravings.com
      I seriously love burgers and could easily have them two or three times a week. Shepard’s pie…that’s made with potatoes, right?

  1. It all sounds so good Valerie!! Your family is lucky to have good planned meals! I used to make a weekly plan when we had kids at home– just shopped once for all week–saved time and money!! Fun to read through your plans…

    1. Thank you, I love the whole homemaking experience! I’m happy I have a crowd to cook for! :) Yes, shopping once a week is ideal…I try to do this but inevitably I forget something or a new need arises, and I end up back at the store. :P

      1. Agree with you Valerie– I’m happy to be at home, keeping tings rolling here. It’s just Larry and me now. But we have people in often. And my favorite is when all the kids come home for the weekend. It makes me happy just to set all the plates around the table and anticipate the meal/talk… Fun to read your blog!

  2. I *totally* do this! I use Pepperplate to choose about 6-8 recipes (hubs gets paid biweekly and that’s about how many meals we actually cook in 15 days) and it makes my grocery list for me! The day before hubs gets paid, I open my grocery store’s website and put all the ingredients in my cart, then add some stuff for breakfasts and lunches. The morning the direct deposit hits the bank account, I complete the order, and they deliver (for FREE!) later that day or the next morning!
    One more way for me to avoid leaving the house! lol
