Speak Life

Today I’m sharing the song, Speak Life by Toby Mac. I’ve been listening to it for awhile and it never fails to give me chills and motivate me. Check out the music and lyrics:

Some days, life feels perfect

other days it just ain’t working.

The good, the bad, the right, the wrong and everything in between.

Yo, it’s crazy amazing we can turn a heart through the words we say.

Mountains crumble with every syllable.

Hope can live or die.

So speak life, speak life to the deadest, darkest night.

Speak life, speak life when the sun won’t shine and you don’t know why.

Look into the eyes of the brokenhearted, watch ’em come alive as soon as you speak hope, you speak love, you speak…you speak life. You speak life.

Some days, the tongue gets twisted,

other days my thoughts just fall apart.

I do, I don’t. I will, I won’t. It’s like I’m drowning in the deep.

Well it’s crazy to imagine words from our lips as the arms of compassion.

Lift your head a little higher, spread the love like a fire.

Hope will fall like rain when you speak life with the words you say.

Raise your thoughts a little higher, use your words to inspire.

Joy will fall like rain when you speak life with the things you say.

Life your head a little higher, spread the love like a fire.

Hope will fall like rain when you speak life with the words you say.

You speak life.

Some days, life feels perfect.

The words are such a great blessing to me. People need encouragement, love, complements, kindness, positivity – and this song is the perfect reminder that we can raise our thoughts above ourselves and give to others. I listen to this song several mornings a week and ask the Holy Spirit to help me to be an encouragement to as many people as I can. Because I am primarily at home with my children, blogging is the one way that I can do this. I can speak hope to someone going through a difficult time, or joy to someone who shares about something wonderful going on. I am very thankful for the ability to reach so many people and I am thankful when others speak hope, love, and life to me as well!

My children are also people (of course!) and this song encourages me to choose my words carefully in my interactions with them; to speak hope, love and life to them every day. ♥

  1. Toby Mac is very entertaining in concert. 😀
Using his talent to spread God’s Word, and such positive messages is a blessing to so many.
It is sometimes hard to do, but putting the effort in to lift people up with what we say and how we act is a great example to set for our children.

    1. Oh, I bet he’s a fantastic performer! I’ve been listening to him for a long time, from when he was part of DC Talk (did you listen to them?) but now I like his solo music, well… Most of it. ;)

  2. This was great Valerie. Powerful our words can be, which the Bible tells us over and over. Of course, it makes sense because God never “did” anything, He “said” it and it happened. His Word says He created us in His image, so it makes sense our words will create or destroy. Hmmm, might have to write a blog about that lol :)

    1. Hi! I’ve no idea why I missed your comment until now. ?? :P Oh well. You’re absolutely right, He spoke and things were done. How interesting to think that may be why our words are so powerful!

      1. No worries, I do it all the time lol and then feel horrible when I catch the comment. I know, it talks about our words, and mouth all through the Bible, (paraphrasing) don’t be snared by the words of your mouth, not what goes in man but what comes out that defiles, etc. :) I hope you are having a wonderful night.
