Eating (and Drinking) for Two 4/23-4/29

Hello! I’ve decided to start sharing my weekly food diary again. As a reminder, no, I am not pregnant, but I AM breastfeeding a very active ten month old so I am definitely “eating and drinking for two.” ;) I’ve lost the baby weight but I want to eat a more balanced diet and drink a lot of water each day. Keeping a food diary helps keep me be accountable.

Here’s what I ate this week:

Sunday (April 23)

breakfast: bowl of Oatmeal Squares cereal with 2% milk

snack: slice of honey wheat bread with natural peanut butter

lunch: piece of (cold) cheese and pineapple pizza

snack: Doritos

dinner: turkey hotdog with ketchup and mustard, baked beans, and crinkle cut fries

drink(s): one cup coffee, 5 cups water

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3), piece of pecan pie

thoughts…Elizabeth was feverish on and off all day and I rarely put her down as she was super clingy and only happy in my arms. After eating the slice of pizza, I had to run to Publix to pick up diapers and some miscellaneous food items that we needed…I should have eaten more because I felt sick by the time I grabbed the Doritos around 3pm. Not a good food day, but that’s what happens sometimes when a day is stressful. :/

Monday (April 24)

breakfast: bowl of TJ’s multigrain Spoonfuls cereal with 2% milk and half a banana

snack: parmesan cracker pretzels and blueberry yogurt

lunch: turkey hotdog, Fritos, four vanilla cream cookies

snack: peanut butter and strawberry preserves sandwich

dinner: three chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, buttermilk biscuit

drink(s): one cup coffee, 5 cups water, pink lemonade

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3)

thoughts…We were out for the entire afternoon but I feel like I ate well and overall I felt good physically. I was starving when we got home (nearly dinner time) and I surprised myself by eating a whole sandwich!

Tuesday (April 25)

breakfast: bowl of TJ’s Multigrain Spoonfuls cereal with 2% milk and half a banana

snack: soft pretzel and a slice of muenster cheese

lunch: 1/2 of a Chick-fil-A sandwich and parmesan cracker pretzels

snack: Whale crackers and string cheese

pre-dinner snack: honey wheat bread and natural peanut butter

dinner: club sandwich (two slices of turkey, bacon (turkey), swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard) and Doritos

drink(s): one cup coffee, 6 cups water, small glass pink lemonade

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3), iron

thoughts…I was really hungry just before lunch and again before dinner on this day. I started feeling sick before mealtime so I think I ought to try drinking a whey protein drink before that hits or have a bigger snack. ??

Wednesday (April 26)

breakfast: bowl of TJ’s Multigrain Spoonfuls cereal with 2% milk

snack: honey pretzel sticks, slice of muenster cheese, baby carrots and ranch dressing

lunch: soft pretzel, tortilla chips, blueberry yogurt

snack: two slices of honey wheat bread with natural peanut butter, mini chocolate chip cookies

dinner: taco (ground turkey, flour tortilla, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream), macaroni and cheese

drink(s): one cup coffee,  six cups water

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3), cinnamon roll, iron

thoughts…I was much more satisfied leading up to mealtime today by having more filling snacks.

Thursday (April 27)

breakfast: two cinnamon roll waffles

snack: pretzel sticks and string cheese

lunch: hot dog, tortilla chips with shredded cheese and jalapeños

snack: Cadbury egg (lol)

dinner: cheeseburger macaroni, one biscuit, green beans

drink(s): one cup coffee, seven cups water

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3), iron

thoughts…not much to report – it was a pretty good day. :)

Friday (April 28)

breakfast: bowl of Oatmeal Squares cereal with 2% milk

snack: club crackers

lunch: taco (ground turkey, muenster cheese, lettuce, sour cream, flour tortilla), small serving mac and cheese, Doritos

pre-dinner snack: Cheetos

dinner: turkey burger with muenster cheese, crinkle fries

drink(s): one cup coffee, 6 cups water

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3), iron, Cadbury egg

thoughts…I was moving the whole day and even ate my dinner quickly while running out the door to pick up Stephen from work. I regret the Cheetos and the club crackers. :/

Saturday (April 29)

breakfast: bowl of Oatmeal Squares cereal with 2% milk

snack: tortilla chips with muenster cheese and jalapeños

lunch: two small tacos (ground turkey, muenster cheese, lettuce, sour cream, flour tortilla), mini chocolate chip cookies

snack: blueberry yogurt, soft pretzel, and parmesan pretzel crackers

dinner: two slices of pepperoni pizza

drink(s): one cup coffee, six cups water

late snack: one slice cheese and pineapple pizza and tortilla chips

miscellaneous: multi-vitamins, calcium magnesium zinc (3)

thoughts…I was strangely starving at 10pm so I had a slice of leftover pizza from dinner and a serving of tortilla chips. I seriously could have eaten a few more slices – weird!

I’m not happy with the way this week went. I made too many food choices that I regretted. I don’t eat chocolate normally because of how it affects my skin but I had it like four or five times this week. I bought and ate chips that I know aren’t good for me. And I didn’t meal plan again so everything felt scattered. Ugh

On to the new week, I say!! I’m going to work a lot harder on planning and making better, healthier decisions this week.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Do you use a food tracker app? My husband uses myfitnesspal to track his food and exercise. He loves it and doesn’t even need it! He finds it easy and since he adds all of our activity it helps me keep track of which day we ran or climbed.

    1. I used one in the past when I was actively losing weight, and it was super helpful. I became educated in portion sizes, nutritional labels, etc which was SO awesome! I definitely know how I should be eating, but last week, I don’t know, I was stressed out and lazy – NOT a good combo, lol.
